Welcome to Commercial Music at Lamar State College – Port Arthur! If you are looking for a career in the music industry you've come to the right place! We will provide you with the tools and training you need to succeed!

In the Commercial Music Department, we offer Associate of Applied Science Degrees in Sound Engineer and Performance (Session Musician), as well as a Level 1 Certificate in Entertainment Business.

State of the Art Facilities
We have multiple Recording Studios with the latest technology, highest quality hardware, and Industry-Standard software. Our individual Audio/MIDI workstations, dedicated PianoLab Classroom, Finale Notation Lab, practice and rehearsal rooms are all nestled in a new, six million dollar Performing Arts Center. In addition, we have a newly renovated Music Hall which contains stage, sound and lighting, all used to produce an incredible performing experience.

Audition and Interview Requirements
All students interested in the Sound Engineer program or Entertainment Business certificate must interview. All students interested in pursuing a degree in Performance must audition. Please click on Auditions for more information.
