Introducing our new certificate program!

Certificate Level 1 Entertainment Business

The Entertainment Business Certificate is designed for students who desire a more in-depth study of practical entertainment business practices, to prepare for self-employment or to enhance their employment potential. Subjects include entertainment law, management, marketing, and business principles. An interview is required; prior enterainment/music business curricular or professional experience is expected. BATTLE OF THE BANDS!
$1000 CASH PRIZE!

The Commercial Music Department at Lamar State College Port Arthur is announcing our "Battle of the Bands" competition! Any band having at least two high school or college age members is eligible to participate.

We welcome all kinds of pop or rock music - rock and roll, metal, country, R&B, you name it! This is the "next big step" for any 'garage band' aspiring to greater things!

Best of all, the top winning band will receive a $1000 (One Thousand Dallars!) cash award, plus 10 hours of free recording time in our state-of-the-art recording studio, plus a featured performance in a Port Arthur Live! concert, held in the Music Hall on LSCPA campus.

To be considered, all candidates must submit a demo of two or three songs by February 1, 2012. From these entries, one finalist band will be selected to win $1000. Second and third placed bands will be selected to receive free studio time in our state-of-the-art recording facilities and opportunity to perform in a Port Arthur Live! concert.
