| AUDITIONS JULY 15th, 16th, 17th!!! |
| WE ARE ESPECIALLY LOOKING FOR BASS PLAYERS AND KEYBOARDISTS, but slots are also available for guitar, vocals, and drums. Auditions for acceptance into the Commercial Music Performance degree program for the Fall 2009 semester will take place JUNE 15th, 16th and 17th at the PAC building on campus. Please call Mike Judy at (409) 984-6520 to schedule your appointment. You can download recordings (MP3) and lead sheets (PDF chord charts) for required audition songs. Vocalists bring sheet music or trax. Click "Audition on Premise" on this homepage to download your material. |

| Port Arthur Live! A Resounding Success during 2008-2009 school year!! |
| Our Commercial Music Performance program hit the stage live for the first time on Novmember 13th,2008 at in the newly renovated Music Hall on campus for the first "Port Arthur Live! Seven more "Port Arthur Live!" concerts followed during the Spring semester 2009, playing to full houses and very enthusiastic crowds. Congratulations to all our students, and to Jeff and Aaron for putting together a terrific concert series!! Stay tune for the announcement of dates for the 2009-1010 "Port Arthur Live!" concert series of Commercial Music Performance bands. |

| LSC-PA Studio Facilities Offer Multiple Platforms |
| It is primary to our mission here at LSC-PA that our students graduate into the real world with hands-on knowledge of a wide variety of recording platforms. Studio A is oufitted with a Mac-based Pro Tools and Nuendo control. Studio B offers PC-based Pro Tools and Cubase 4. Studio C avails our students to 10 IMac workstations with Pro Tools LE. Finally, Analog has joined the family of LSC-PA Recording Studio platforms with the addition of a MCI-JH24 Analog 24 Track Tape Recorder, a MCI-Autolocator III, and a Peavy AMR 1600 Audio Console. Students now have the opportunity to learn how to record by tape, and digitally via Pro Tools (both Mac and PC), Nuendo, and Cubase 4. |

| Johnny Preston Headlines Concert with Commercial Music Performers |
| "The Day the Music Died", sponsored by the Commercial Music Department and the Museum of the Gulf Coast, played to an exuberant, overflow crowd in the college theater on the 50th anniversary of the tragic accident that took Buddy Holly, Richie Valens, and The Big Bopper. Special guest, Johnny Preston, sang 7 of his hit songs, including the #1 "Running Bear", accompanied by our Commercial Music band and singers, "Pink D-Stortion" and the band and singers presented a variety of great hits from the late 50's to the present. The concert was wildly successful and we congratulate everyone involved. |

Audition and Interview Information
All interested candidates for Commercial Music, both for sound technology and music performance, are asked to interview, either in person or by phone. Commercial Music Performance majors (musicians) must also audition on premise.
